I have created the Let It Go Candle as a companion for you to sit with your grief, to let the emotions flow, to turn sadness into remembering. The Let It Go Candle can help you create your very own ritual, to take some time off, slow down, consciously be present, set your focus on the transformation and make space for all the thoughts and feelings emerging in the process. The melting away of the wax, the metamorphosis of the shape in connection with warmth and light spreading for me perfectly symbolizes transformation.

Turning Presence Into Memories

The idea for the Let It Go Candle emerged during savasana one morning when my heart was filled with sadness, trying to let go of the grief tightening my body and to accept change. The concept then started to develop as I remembered meditating with candle flames during my young teen years with my grandmother who was teaching yoga back in the 1970s and 1980s almost until the end of her life. When my grandmother who had taught me to meditate in my childhood died it was the first time in my life a very close and important human left this earth and the experience of transforming presence into memories has deeply moved me.

The soft warm light of a candle feels comforting and soothing, the flame steadily burning but also always in motion. The ability of the material wax to melt and transform has always been fascinating me. The candle - looking at the flame and the melting wax, the change of its shape was to be my companion in the transformation process.

I have shaped the wax with my hands into an organic soft form to reflect an ongoing flow of emotional sensations that might occur over time.

Letting go is often connected with a lot of grief, distress and pain but I believe that consciously accepting change and transformation is most important in life because it is everywhere and omnipresent.
